When would you use a carry-around, a cart/two-wheel trolley or a skid?
- Carry-around. Compact. Low cost. Store it very easily when not in use. Limited to 20L/5.3USG in total if it needs to be carried.
- 2-wheel cart/trolley. Easy to wheel around shop or site. Small footprint. Hose stowage provides a neat rig.
- Skid. Rugged and compact form for site and shop. Easy to store. Ideal for transporting in van or truck.
When would you use an air driven hydrotest unit?
Generally, when manual pumping becomes hard work and you wish to de-skill the process.
The lowest cost hydrotest units are manual like our MP series. On larger volume systems, a manual pump can involve a lot of pumping, although do consider pre-filling at lower pressure first, particularly if you are using water. A two speed manual pump like our MD-6 will cut the number of strokes as it has a high volume low pressure stage. Eliminate manual pumping with an air driven pump like our PTR-M or DUO unit. Connect it to shop air and it will cycle to pump fluid and eventually stall at a pressure that the operator sets on the air regulator. They are an inherently safe and rugged option that removes the need for manual pumping. The PTR-M is a skid/frame mounted air driven pump, with or without a 10 or 20L (2.6 or 5.3USG) reservoir and offering multifluid operation to 700 bar/ 15000psi. The PTR-A is a programmable version of the air driven pump that allows the operator to set the test pressure and period then repeat it up to 40K times. It is a cost-effective alternative to expensive cycling rigs for users who have basic test needs.
