A range of fixed, hand-carried portable, two wheel mobile and 4 wheel trolley hydraulic reservoirs.
For use with our MW-3 316 stainless steel pump, MW-A alloy and stainless steel pump and our Micropac MD series two speed hand pumps. They are offered as standard in lightweight anodised alloy or corrosion resistant 316 stainless steel.
Why use a hydraulic fluid reservoir?
A hydraulic fluid reservoir is needed when the hand pump is to be used as an independent unit where only the pressure connection is made to the system, for example pressure testing or filling. As well as fluid supply to the pump, there is usually a requirement for fluid return to the reservoir, through release valve, relief valve or 4 way valve as applicable. Return to reservoir on all Micropac pumps is through holes on the underside of the pump, rather than back through the pump inlet. This is done to aid bleeding of a system and also prevents contamination of the pump.
Alternatively, the hand pump may be integrated into an existing hydraulic circuit where it might for example act as an emergency back-up for a powered pump, and it is therefore able to utilise the existing reservoir within that installation. It may also be connected into a dedicated circuit where the reservoir forms part of customer designed equipment. In all cases where external connection is made to the pump inlet, it must not be overly long or constricted.
Why buy a Micropac MR Hydraulic Reservoir?
Our MR reservoirs facilitate direct mounting of MW and MD hand pumps using 4 fixing screws. The pump inlet dip tube is cut to length to suit the reservoir and features a strainer to prevent contamination of the system. The reservoir mounting plate is drilled such that the fluid return holes in the pump are aligned and sealing is effected by means of a cork gasket.
Reservoirs are available for fixed mounting and also for portable applications with or without a trolley. Construction is from lightweight anodised marine grade aluminium alloy or 316 stainless steel, dependant on model, and reservoir volumes range for 1 to 50 litres.
All reservoirs are fitted with a filler/ breather cap and an auxiliary port to facilitate cleaning.
Description
Fixed reservoirs are designed to be bolted to a frame or bench via the mounting holes. Sizes available for the fixed reservoirs are 1 litre (stainless steel only), 2.5 litre, 4 litre, 5 litre, 10 litre and 20 litres.
The portable hydraulic reservoirs may be carried around using the pump handle which locks down for carrying to make a lightweight portable pressure test set. Portable reservoirs are available in 5 litres, 10 litres, 14 litres and 20 litres. They come with a sturdy footplate to provide stability in operation. A traditional trough option is also available in 316 stainless.
Our Ergo portable reservoir option simply provides a long sloping footplate for maximum stability.
We also offer a range of 316 stainless steel hydraulic reservoirs with an integral 2-wheel trolley. These provide safe transport and easy operation and are fitted with hose stowage. These reservoirs are available in 10 litres, 20 litres and 50 litres and come with a sturdy footplate to provide stability in operation.
A further alternative trolley option is our own 4 wheel 316 stainless turntable trolley fitted with a Micropac pump and 50 litre reservoir unit. 75 or 100 litre option are to special order. Contact the factory.
When a hydraulic pump is ordered with a reservoir, it is supplied assembled to the pump and ready for use. Filler breathers are included and we can offer optional dipsticks or column level indicators.
Both the Micropac MW-A alloy hand pump and MW-3 316 stainless steel hand pump will fit on aluminium alloy or stainless steel reservoirs, although users would normally specify, for example, a stainless steel reservoir for a stainless steel pump. Our Micropac MD-6 two speed hand pumps will also fit on this range of reservoirs.

Micropac MR-R Remote Hydraulic Reservoir for neat and cost effective systems.
Sarum Hydraulics has manufactured neat and cost effective fixed and portable reservoirs for its own Micropac pump for four decades. Order a MP carry-around pump and you will specify your reservoir when you order. Order a MW or MD pump and there is a reservoir choice as part of the ordering code.
Use our manufacturing knowhow on reservoirs to provide the optimum reservoir for your project. Are catalogue hydraulic reservoirs all simply too large for your application? We offer units down to 1 litre. Do you require extra bosses or mounting points? We can meet those needs. Is the need for a cost effective 316 stainless reservoir? Those are our business. Or can you see an opportunity to mount up components on a reservoir lid, piping underneath for a neat, compact and cost effective design. We discuss extensively how reservoirs can provide some amazingly neat design solutions for your project. Read our application note. Moving beyond our standard pump-interfaced models or buying mass market catalogue reservoirs, this series offers a blank canvas for engineers and system designers to integrate their own hydraulic equipment, ports, and brackets as required. Description
A hydraulic fluid reservoir is an essential component for any hydraulic system. While our traditional reservoirs are optimised for seamless integration with our Micropac MW and MD series pumps, this new range is designed for those applications where the reservoir must be a standalone component, integrated into a bespoke customer-designed circuit.
These reservoirs are supplied with a single filler/breather cap and are otherwise plain. This allows for the addition of additional ports, brackets, level indicators, removable lids, and other optional ancillaries to suit your specific application. This approach provides maximum flexibility and removes the constraints of a pre-determined pump interface. If you have a specific space envelope, we can fabricate a reservoir to fit existing mounting centres and fit into tight gaps.
Constructed from lightweight anodised marine grade aluminium alloy or corrosion-resistant 316 stainless steel, these reservoirs maintain the high quality and durability expected from Sarum Hydraulics.
