What will a Hydrostatic Pressure Test Certificate say?
If you look at the simplest form of a hydrostatic pressure test certificate, it will state a medium plus a pressure, then go on to declare that on a certain date that the part (whether it is a hose, pressure vessel or whatever) was taken up to the pressure with no leakage or permanent deformation. It is vital to describe the part with a serial number, even if you engrave something as you might on a first off from a batch of hoses. You may keep the certificate pretty general and just quote these basics. Alternatively, there may be a procedure called up – this being your own internal procedure, a procedure that a customer has provided or even based on an International Standard. There may be a Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) that sets out the acceptance criteria. If you have called up a pressure, I would expect this to be using a calibrated pressure gauge and you might call up the serial number and calibration details as well.
This template is purely for guidance and the user will need to decide what is required for their own application.
On your letterhead or printed certificate:
TEST CERTIFICATE
To: ABCLIMITED
Customer Order Ref: ABC/PO-XYZ
Certificate No: XYZ/1 issue 1 (give each certificate a unique number and issue number- don’t muddle with the general document reference on the footer)
Equipment serial No: 12345 (the equipment has to be traceable somehow or it is all pointless)
Equipment: 1 Off MW-3-XX-YY-ZZ MICROPAC HAND PUMP (model number, in our case us testing one of our pumps. It could be your pressure vessel, pipework, pressure switch or whatever.)
Medium: Water (might be recorded in procedure or FAT report)
Pressure: 350 bar. (might be recorded in procedure or FAT report)
I certify that on the following date, the above equipment was tested in accordance with Sarum Hydraulics test schedule 12345 with no leakage or permanent deformation evident.
OR A LITTLE MORE DETAILED I certify that on the following date, the above equipment was tested in accordance with Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) 1234 and the unit met the pressure test Acceptance Criteria specified.

Good evening B M Shyamanna, Thank you for your questions. We manufacture a range of hydrostatic test products, so I will e-mail you full details. The maximum flow rate on a hand pump is around 3 litres per minute at free flow which then reduces as the pressure rises and the operator needs to pump more slowly. An air driven pump from our range will run up to around 5 litres per minute free flow. As the pressure rises, the pump slows down and eventually stalls out. I will talk to you about options an costs. Manoj Salannavar, Thank you for reading our blog on Hydrostatic Testing. Hydraulic jacks would be “lifting equipment.” We think that would make a great white paper or blog on “how to test hydraulic jacks and lifting equipment.” That is quite specialist, we think. We will see what we can do.
